Robert Kovacik

Robert Kovacik is a multi-Emmy award-winning journalist who reports and anchors for NBC’s affiliate station in Los Angeles (NBC-4), bringing a local perspective to national and international events. After becoming the youngest anchor in New York City at age 23 for PBS member station WNET’s NIGHTWORLD, Robert Kovacik went on to establish a distinguished career in television news. His early milestone set the foundation for significant achievements in investigative journalism and news reporting. In 1994, Kovacik relocated to Los Angeles, joining KCOP-TV as an anchor and reporter.

His commitment to public service is evidenced by three consecutive terms as President of the Los Angeles Press Club, a nearly 500-member organization, eventually becoming an Honorary Board member and President Emeritus. His impactful investigative journalism has spurred tangible change, notably an exclusive examination into the Los Angeles Fire Department’s 911 response times, which prompted a mayoral audit, and an exposé on overcrowded animal shelters that led to changes in city laws. Most recently, Kovacik has continued to be recognized with Golden Mike Awards for ‘Best Continuing Coverage’ for ‘Kobe Bryant’s Death’ (2020), ‘Best Television “Live” Coverage of a News Story’ for ‘Live Slaughterhouse Escape’ (2022), and ‘Best 30 Minute Newscast, 11pm’ (2023), further solidifying his reputation as a multi-Emmy and Golden Mike award-winning journalist.
