Roberto J. Portales

Roberto J. Portales is a fitness influencer who has amassed a huge fan base on Instagram, where he has over 150 thousand followers. He attributes his physical fitness to his time in the military. He served as a Special Agent in Counterintelligence and rose to the rank of Captain. In his online academy, he teaches courses in wellness, fitness, and nutrition called: Roberto’s School.

Portales grew up in Tampa, Florida, and started playing sports at the age of four. He started his amateur football and wrestling careers during high school. In 2011, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 to support Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was the platoon leader. After that, he became a Counterintelligence Special Agent, defending the United States from spies, terrorists, and international intelligence threats.

He left the Army in 2016 and started working as an IT Services Sales Executive for a multinational information technology firm. He began competing in men’s physique at that time and remains very active in the fitness community. In 2020 he debuted his men’s boot line, “Seek Out Life.” Portales said the Army taught him how important it is to take care of your feet which was the inspiration for his line of boots that are durable, comfortable, and well-fitting for the modern warrior. Despite the fact that he is no longer a member of the US military, he continues to help veterans in a variety of ways, including contributing a portion of every sale to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
