Ronald De Boer

Ronaldus de Boer was born on May 15, 1970, in Hoorn, Netherlands. He began his football journey in the Ajax youth program in 1983, alongside his twin brother Frank de Boer. His professional club career started with Ajax in 1988, where he played for three seasons before moving to Twente in 1991. After two successful seasons at Twente, he returned to Ajax in 1993, a period that marked the most significant success in his club career. Under manager Louis van Gaal, De Boer secured three consecutive Eredivisie titles between 1993 and 1996. He also played a key role in Ajax’s victory in the 1995 UEFA Champions League, the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, and the 1995 UEFA Super Cup, establishing himself as a significant talent in European football.

Following his highly successful second tenure at Ajax, Ronald de Boer, along with his brother Frank, transferred to FC Barcelona in January 1999. During his time at Barcelona (1999-2000), he contributed to winning one La Liga title and one Copa Generalitat. In 2000, he moved to Glasgow Rangers, joining a number of other Dutch international players under manager Dick Advocaat. With Rangers, De Boer won the Scottish Premier League, two Scottish Cups, and one Scottish League Cup. After his time in Scotland, he played for Al-Rayyan (2004-2005) and Al-Shamal (2005-2008) in Qatar, where he reunited with his brother and won the Emir of Qatar Cup in 2005 with Al-Rayyan. He officially retired from professional football in 2008 following a neck injury.

Throughout his career, Ronald de Boer also represented the Netherlands national team, earning 67 caps and scoring 13 goals. He participated in major international tournaments, including the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups, and the European Football Championships in 1996 and 2000. His individual accolades include being named the Netherlands’ best player in 1994 and 1996. After retiring as a player, he transitioned into a managerial role, serving as the Ajax A1 assistant manager.
