Ronald De Boer

Ronald De Boer is a decorated former professional footballer, known for his impactful career as a midfielder and winger for prominent European clubs and the Netherlands national team. After making his professional debut with Ajax in 1988, Ronald De Boer quickly rose through the ranks, first contributing to an Eredivisie title in the 1989-90 season. Following a two-season tenure with Twente, he returned to Ajax in 1993, embarking on the most decorated period of his club career. Under manager Louis van Gaal, De Boer was instrumental in securing three consecutive Eredivisie titles between the 1993-94 and 1995-96 seasons.

His pivotal role extended to European triumphs, including Ajax’s victory in the 1995 UEFA Champions League, followed by the 1995 Intercontinental Cup and the 1995 UEFA Super Cup. These achievements cemented his status as a premier talent, earning him the prestigious Netherlands’ best player (Voetballer van het Jaar) accolade in both 1994 and 1996. He later added another Eredivisie title and the KNVB Cup in the 1997-98 season with Ajax. Building on his immense success at Ajax, Ronald De Boer transferred to FC Barcelona in January 1999, joining his brother Frank.
