Ronald De Boer

Ronald De Boer is a decorated former Soccerer, now manager, pundit and speaker, who enjoyed several seasons at the pinnacle of European Soccer. He is best known for his time with AFC Ajax, and for representing the Netherlands for a decade, and is the twin of fellow player Frank De Boer. He was twice named Dutch Soccerer of the Year, and was twice nominated for the Ballon d’Or.
De Boer trained with De Zouaven, and was selected for Ajax’s youth programme when he was 13. He made his senior debut for the club in 1988, and during his first spell there the team topped the Eredivisie. After a two-season spell at Twente, he returned to Ajax, where he would remain for several successful years. The team won four Eredivisie titles in five years, and enjoyed a sensational 1995 during which they won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. Next followed a spell at Barcelona, followed by four seasons at Scottish club Rangers, and finally stints with the Qatari teams Al-Rayyan and Al-Shamal.
Internationally, De Boer made 67 caps for the Netherlands over a ten-year period, scoring 13 goals. He played at the World Cups in 1994 and 1998, and at two Euro Championships. Since 2010, he has developed a managerial career, working with the Qatari national team and now assistant managing junior team Ajax A1 at his old club. He is a regular on Dutch media, having commentated on Soccer shows such as Studio Voetbal, and appeared on talk shows including Pauw and RTL Late Night. His popularity has also earned him guest roles on shows in the Netherlands and beyond, including Dutch soap Goede tijden, slechte tijden, the comedy series Jeuk and Toren C, and American sitcom Saved by the Bell.
