Jade Catta-Preta is a Brazilian-born comedian and actress recognized for her hosting roles on "The Soup" and "Hotties," as well as her stand-up comedy performed in both English and Portuguese.
Jade Catta-Preta was born on February 19, 1984, in São Paulo, Brazil. At the age of 12, she relocated with her family to Charlottesville, Virginia, in the United States. She graduated from Emerson College in 2007, where she majored in musical theater. Initially aspiring to pursue musical theater on Broadway, Catta-Preta later moved to Los Angeles to advance her acting career. She began performing stand-up comedy regularly at The Comedy Store after hosting National Lampoon, performing in both English and Portuguese across the country.
Catta-Preta’s career includes significant television roles. She was a series regular on “Manhattan Love Story” (ABC).
She has held recurring roles on “American Housewife” (ABC), “Future Man” (Hulu), “Those Who Can’t” (TruTv), “The Joey Mac Project” (PopTV), and “Californication” (Showtime). Her guest appearances include “Life in Pieces” (CBS), “Modern Family” (NBC), and “2 Broke Girls” (CBS). In reality television, she was a series regular on “Girl Code” (MTV), “Punk’d” (MTV), “Ladylike” (MTV), “Flashback Friday” (VH1), and “Greatest Ever” (TruTV). She also competed on “Comedy Knockout” (TruTV) and “@Midnight” (Comedy Central) and served as a guest judge on “Cooking with Cannabis” (Netflix).
In 2020, Catta-Preta was selected to host the revival of “The Soup” on E! Network, a show known for its commentary on television clips. In 2022, she became the host of Hulu’s dating show “Hotties,” which involves contestants competing in a blind date food competition with spicy foods. Also in 2022, Catta-Preta released her first stand-up special, “jaded.,” filmed at the Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia and distributed on YouTube by Helium Comedy Studios.
