Rory Smith

Rory Smith is a former professional lacrosse player known for his defensive strength and leadership on the field, bringing a disciplined and physical presence to every team. After earning the League MVP title with the Jr. B Mimico Mountaineers in 2006, Rory Smith transitioned to professional lacrosse, being drafted 17th overall in the second round of the 2007 NLL Entry Draft by the New York Titans. Smith played for the Titans for two seasons in New York (2008-2009) and for one season in Orlando (2010), where he set an NLL single-season record of 104 penalty minutes.

A career. Following his time with the Mammoth, he played a season with the Buffalo Bandits in 2014. Smith concluded his distinguished professional playing career with the Vancouver Stealth (later the Vancouver Warriors) from 2015 to 2016. A testament to his consistent performance and defensive prowess, Smith made the playoffs every year of his professional career.

Known for his physical style of play, ‘The Mimico Mauler’ accumulated over 1,000 career penalty minutes across his amateur and professional career. Beyond the field, Smith is widely recognized for his exceptional leadership qualities and his ability to significantly elevate the performance of his teammates. Since retiring from professional play, he has remained actively involved in the sport, serving as a Zone 7 lacrosse Director and coach. Rory Smith continues to be a respected figure in the lacrosse community, celebrated for his dedication, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to the game.
