The brilliant sportsman Brodie Merrill is one of the most decorated lacrosse players in the world. He currently plays for the PLL Cannons Lacrosse Club and the NLL’s San Diego Seals, and is a 5x Gold medal winner with Team Canada. He is the Director of Athletics at the Hill Academy in Caledon, Ontario, and serves as their Head Coach of the Prep Team. He is also the main editor for the online lacrosse magazine, Brodie Merrill Lacrosse.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Merrill was a standout lacrosse player throughout his High School years. He attended Georgetown University, where he was named First Team All-American, and All-ECAC player. His National Lacrosse League career began when he was selected by the Portland LumberJax in the 2005 NLL draft, and he went on to be named the NLL’s Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year 2006. In 2009 he was drafted by the Edmonton Rush, and in 2011 he was traded to the Philadelphia Wings. In 2015 he joined the Toronto Rock, and in 2018 he signed with the San Diego Seals.
Merrill has also played in the Major League Lacrosse for the Baltimore Bayhawks, the Rochester Rattlers, the Hamilton (Toronto) Nationals, and the Boston Cannons. He joined Chaos LC for the inaugural season of the Premier Lacrosse League in 2019, and then played for the Waterdogs, and in 2021 he was selected by Cannons LC. While on the international stage, he has represented his native Canada since 2006, and has helped them to two World Lacrosse Championships Golds (2006 and 2014), and two Silvers (2010 and 2018), and to three World Indoor Lacrosse Championships Golds (2007, 2011, and 2015).
