Rudrankksh Patil

Rudrankksh Patil was born on December 16, 2003, in Thane, Maharashtra. He initially engaged in chess and football before transitioning to shooting, encouraged by his parents, Balasaheb and Hemangini Patil. He received his early shooting training from Coach Snehal Kadam at PTKS Ville Parle for five to six years, and subsequently from Coach Ajit Patil in Thane. Patil has continued his training with Neha Chavan at the Gun For Glory Academy in Pune, an institution co-founded by Gagan Narang, who also facilitated a sponsored gun from Walther, Germany, for Patil. He pursued higher education, completing a graduation in Geography and expressing aspirations to pursue a Master of Arts degree, alongside his professional shooting career.

Patil’s career began to register significant milestones, including becoming the World No.1 in the 10m air rifle category in 2022. In 2021, he secured a silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Lima. The following year, 2022, was particularly notable for him, as he won individual and team gold medals at the World Championships in Cairo, securing a Paris 2024 Olympic quota berth. He also earned a team gold medal at the Asian Airgun Championships in Daegu and individual and team gold medals at the Junior World Cup in Suhl during the same year. By 2023, Patil had added an individual gold and mixed team gold at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, along with two bronze medals (individual and mixed team) at the ISSF World Cup in Bhopal. He also achieved a team gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, setting a world record score in the process, which was formally reported on September 25, 2023. His consistent performance at international events has positioned him as a leading figure in Indian shooting.

His recent achievements include a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup 2025 in Buenos Aires in the men’s 10m air rifle event, where he shot 252.9, surpassing three-time Olympian Istvan Marton Peni. Following this, he earned a silver medal in the mixed team event at the same World Cup. He also secured a silver in the mixed team event at the 2025 Lima World Cup. Additionally, Patil won mixed team and team gold medals at the 2024 Asian Rifle/Pistol Championships in Jakarta, where he also claimed an individual bronze medal. Further demonstrating his strong presence in Asian competitions, he secured a team gold medal at the 2025 Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent. These results illustrate his continued performance at a high level. Patil is focused on ongoing training to improve his qualification scores and overall performance, especially in preparation for forthcoming World Championships and Asian Championships, despite having already achieved significant global success.
