Rupi Kaur

Rupi Kaur was born in India in 1992 and relocated to Canada at the age of four. She gained initial recognition through her short visual poetry shared on platforms like Instagram and Tumblr. While attending university as a 21-year-old, Kaur independently wrote, illustrated, and published her debut poetry collection, “milk and honey,” in 2014. This work addressed themes of love, loss, trauma, healing, and femininity, resonating with a wide audience.

Following the success of her first collection, Kaur released “the sun and her flowers” in 2017. Both “milk and honey” and “the sun and her flowers” collectively sold over 8 million copies and were translated into more than 42 languages, establishing her as a significant voice in contemporary poetry. Her third book, “home body,” released in 2020, further cemented her literary presence by debuting at number one on bestseller lists globally. Kaur’s work often draws on her personal experiences, including migration, and continues to explore universal themes of human emotion and resilience. She currently resides in Brampton, Ontario.
