Chad Kimball

Chad Kimball was born on September 2, 1976, in Seattle, Washington. He pursued a formal education in musical theatre, graduating with a BFA from the Boston Conservatory in 1999. Following his graduation, Kimball relocated to New York City to begin his professional acting career. His early Broadway appearances included a role in “The Civil War” shortly before its closing. He also performed in the Off-Broadway revival of “Godspell” in 2000 and the 2002 Broadway revival of “Into the Woods,” where he played the character Milky White and served as an understudy for other roles.

Kimball continued to build his stage career with roles in Broadway productions such as “Lennon” and “Good Vibrations” in 2005. His regional theatre credits during this period included portraying Anthony in “Sweeney Todd” at the Signature Theatre in 1999, performing in “Baby” at the Paper Mill Playhouse in 2004, and appearing in “Little Fish” at The Blank Theatre in Los Angeles in 2007.

A significant turning point in Kimball’s career came when he originated the lead role of Huey Calhoun in the musical “Memphis” at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2008. He transferred with the production to Broadway, starring in the role until 2011. His performance earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, as well as nominations for the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. He also appeared in the filmed version, “Memphis: Direct from Broadway.” In 2017, Kimball returned to Broadway in “Come From Away” as Kevin T. He is also a co-founder of Obvious Clothing.
