Dev Patel has transitioned from a teen drama actor to an Academy Award-nominated performer, filmmaker, and producer, known for his versatile roles and impactful storytelling. After his breakthrough role as Jamal Malik in Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (2008), Dev Patel garnered significant industry recognition, including a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor, a British Independent Film Award, and a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Young Performer. Prior to this, Patel’s professional acting career began with the E4 teen drama series ‘Skins’ (2007-2008), where he portrayed Anwar Kharral for two seasons. Demonstrating early discipline, he also earned a 1st dan black belt in Taekwondo in 2006.

Building on his critical acclaim, Patel continued to select impactful roles, starring in ‘Hotel Mumbai’ (2018) and taking on the titular role in Armando Iannucci’s ‘The Personal History of David Copperfield’ (2019). That same year, he received an Emmy nomination for his performance in the anthology series ‘Modern Love.’ In 2021, he starred in the acclaimed fantasy film ‘The Green Knight.’ Demonstrating his evolving influence in the film industry, Patel launched his own production company, Minor Realm, in 2021, and simultaneously signed a first-look deal with ShivHans Pictures. In 2024, he made his highly anticipated directorial debut with the action film ‘Monkey Man,’ in which he also starred.
