Samantha Bee is a Canadian-American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, television host and actress. Bee is well known as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Steward, where she gained her reputation as the longest-serving on the show. Bee is also widely recognised for her own show, titled Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, a late-night talk and news satire programme. In 2017, Bee was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time on the annual Time 100 list.
Born in Toronto, Bee became a US citizen officially in 2014. Bee has appeared in several films and television shows, including Ham & Cheese, which she won a Canadian Comedy Award for Pretty Funny Female Performance for her starring role. Bee was a regular correspondent on The Daily Show, making her first appearance in 2003. For her work on the show, she was recognised with a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Female TV Performance in 2005.
Other on-screen credits including Law & Order, Bored to Death, The Electric Company, Bob’s Burgers, Love, Loss, and What I Wore and Whatever Works. Bee is also an executive producer of the TBS comedy series The Detour, and has recently launched a new production company, called Swimsuit Competition. In 2010, Bee published her book titled I Known I Am, But What Are You? which was greeted with positive reviews. Bee’s news show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee debuted in 2016, making her the first woman to host a late-night satire show.
