Sara López, the pride of Colombian archery, has carved an illustrious path in the world of compound archery, leaving an indelible mark on the sport. Her journey began in 2011 when she first represented Colombia in the Pre-Olympic event in Medellin, marking the inception of a remarkable career.

López’s prowess became evident early on, with medals at multiple editions of the World Games and a standout performance at the FITA Archery World Cup in 2013, where she qualified for the final. Rising to her career-best world ranking of 3 in the same year, López’s trajectory continued upward.

In 2014, she etched her name in archery history by winning the Archery World Cup, a testament to her skill, focus, and competitive spirit. Her dominance is further underscored by holding the current world record for a 15-arrow round and an additional 10 world records. Notably, López made history as the first woman to achieve a perfect 150 at stage 3 of the World Cup in Medellin.

The year 2020 brought new challenges, and López emerged victorious in the inaugural Lockdown Knockout tournament organized by World Archery. Her stellar performances earned her the 2021 Athlete of the Year award in the compound women category from World Archery Americas.

Even in 2022, López continued to add to her impressive resume, securing the silver medal in the women’s compound event at the World Games held in Birmingham, Alabama. Sara López stands as a beacon of excellence in compound archery, inspiring athletes worldwide with her achievements and commitment to the sport.
