Dean Mitchell is best known as Saxsquatch on stage. He is an American musician most known for dressing up as Bigfoot and playing saxophone cover versions of popular songs, thus earning him his stage name. Mitchell was a member of The Marcus King Band’s saxophone section. “Around the World” was released in 2020, followed by “Maneater,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Cantina,” and “Moondance” in 2021. “The Missing Mixtape,” which was also published on vinyl, has original songs as well as covers by Daft Punk, Men at Work, The Police, George Michael, Louis Armstrong, and Ritchie Valens.
Saxsquatch began uploading his saxophone performances to YouTube in 2019 and quickly gained viral notoriety with his cover of Daft Punk’s “One More Time.” He rose to prominence as a result of his YouTube channel which now has over 275 thousand subscribers and over 16.5 million views. His cover of “You Don’t Know Me” was featured on the satirical comedy television show Tosh.0. By 2020, he was one of the top solo artists on the Pollstar Livestream charts, with 3 to 5 million views per day on social media.
Saxsquatch launched the Saxual Healing Tour 2020 in 2020, which comprised outdoor concerts at a variety of locations. His “Live From The Woods” concerts had become Facebook’s top recurring music stream by early 2021. Saxsquatch and John Oates teamed in 2021 to make an electronic dance music cover of the Hall & Oates song “Maneater,” which was released in 1982.
