Scott McGillivray was born on April 7, 1978, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. He pursued higher education at the University of Guelph, earning an honours degree in Commerce in 2001. Following his graduation, McGillivray commenced a career in property development, acquiring residential properties with the aim of renovating them for rental purposes. In 2004, he obtained his contractor’s license, enabling him to directly manage his construction crews.
McGillivray’s professional trajectory expanded into television in 2008, where he became a prominent figure on HGTV in both the US and Canada. He gained widespread recognition as the host and executive producer of several popular series, including “Income Property,” “Moving the McGillivrays,” and “Buyers Bootcamp.” His programming focuses on educating audiences about the practicalities of real estate investment and home renovation. In addition to his on-screen roles, McGillivray broadened his entrepreneurial ventures, establishing McGillivray Group and McGillivray Entertainment. He also co-founded Keyspire, an organization dedicated to real estate investment education.
