Sean Walsh

Seann Walsh was born Sean Christopher Walsh on December 2, 1985, in Camden, London, and was raised in Brighton, East Sussex, England. He left school with one GCSE in Drama. Walsh began his comedy career in November 2006 after attending Jill Edwards’ comedy workshops. His early career saw him quickly gain recognition, winning the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year in 2009 and the Chortle Best Newcomer award in the same year. He supported fellow comedian Stephen K. Amos on his ‘Find the Funny’ (2008/09) and ‘The Feelgood Factor’ (2009/10) tours and performed at the Reading and Leeds Festival in 2010. Walsh also served as an ‘audience wrangler’ for the television show QI.

Walsh has since established a significant presence in British television and stand-up comedy. He performed his show ‘Seann to Be Wild’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012, followed by a national tour. His 2013 Edinburgh Fringe show, ‘The Lie-In King’, also received positive reviews, establishing his style as impressively universal and gag-heavy observational comedy. His notable television appearances include ‘Mock the Week’ (2009–2013), ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ (2010), ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ (2011–2014), and ‘Live at the Apollo’ (2011, 2013, 2016). He also presented ‘Seann Walsh World’ in 2013 and was a team captain on ‘Virtually Famous’ from 2014 to 2017.

In 2017–2018, Walsh appeared as Grizzo in the ITV2 sitcom ‘Bad Move’. A significant turning point in his public profile occurred in 2018 when he participated in the sixteenth series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as a contestant. His involvement in the show, alongside professional dance partner Katya Jones, garnered extensive media attention. Following this, he hosted ‘Flinch’, a physical gameshow for Netflix, and in 2022, he participated in Series 22 of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’, where he finished in 5th place. More recently, Walsh was awarded Best Actor (Feature Film) at the 2023 Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival for his role in ‘The Bystanders’ (2022). He further expanded his acting career by playing Malvolio in ‘Twelfth Night’ and Yvan in the play ‘ART’ during 2024, both of which received critical acclaim.
