Sergey Spivak, born on January 24, 1995, in Chișinău, Moldova, began his martial arts training at the age of seven. His early dedication to sports paved the way for a professional career in mixed martial arts, which he commenced in September 2014 at 19 years old with the Ukrainian promotion Real Fight Promotion. His debut fight against Andrey Serebrianikov resulted in a first-round TKO victory. He quickly demonstrated proficiency in both striking and grappling, securing early wins through various methods including TKO, kimura, and armbar submissions across regional promotions like World Warriors Fighting Championships (WWFC), N1 Pro, and Eagles Fighting Championship.
Spivac’s career progression saw him capture the vacant WWFC Heavyweight Championship, which he successfully defended twice. His dominant performances in these early years, including wins over seasoned fighters like Travis Fulton and Tony Lopez, established him as a formidable heavyweight contender. This led to his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut in May 2019 at UFC Fight Night 151. Despite an initial loss, Spivac quickly adapted, showcasing his grappling prowess in subsequent fights. He holds an active status in the UFC Heavyweight Division, currently ranked #7 as of September 9, 2025. His fighting style, rooted in Sambo, is characterized by a high takedown accuracy and a balanced approach to finishes, with a near equal number of wins by knockout and submission.
Throughout his UFC tenure, Spivac has faced numerous top-tier opponents, earning two ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses for his submissive victories over Derrick Lewis in February 2023 and Marcin Tybura in August 2024. Noteworthy achievements include maintaining one of the highest takedown accuracy percentages in UFC Heavyweight division history at 65.1%, and securing the third most takedowns landed in the division’s history with 28. His professional record stands at 17 wins and 6 losses, with 7 wins by knockout, 8 by submission, and 11 first-round finishes, demonstrating his ability to conclude fights decisively.
