Sinan Güler was born on November 8, 1983, in Turkey. He is the son of former professional basketball player Necat Güler and the younger brother of Muratcan Güler, also a professional basketball player, continuing a family legacy in the sport. Güler began his basketball career with the youth teams of the Turkish club Beşiktaş in the 2000-01 season. He then moved to the United States to play college basketball at Salt Lake Community College from 2002 to 2004, and later at Carroll College from 2004 to 2006. After his college career, he returned to Turkey to continue his professional journey, showcasing his skills in various high-level leagues.
Upon his return to Turkey, Güler joined Darüşşafaka before rejoining Beşiktaş. His career saw a significant turning point in 2008 when he signed with Anadolu Efes, a prominent Turkish club. With Anadolu Efes, he achieved notable success, winning the Turkish Cup and Turkish Super League in 2009, followed by the Turkish Supercup in both 2009 and 2010. In 2013, he transferred to Galatasaray, where he became the team captain. His leadership and performance were instrumental in Galatasaray winning the EuroCup championship in 2016, a major achievement at the European-wide second-tier level. Later, in 2017, Güler signed with Fenerbahçe, where he reached the EuroLeague Final Four in 2018, marking his fourth consecutive appearance in the tournament’s final stages. He concluded his professional playing career with Darüşşafaka, retiring in December 2022. Beyond his playing career, Güler has been actively involved in developing young athletes through initiatives like Guler Legacy and Boly, leveraging his experience to inspire the next generation.
Throughout his career, Güler was a consistent member and captain of the Turkish national basketball team, representing his country in numerous international tournaments. He earned a silver medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and a bronze medal at the 2009 Mediterranean Games. He also participated in EuroBasket tournaments in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015, and the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Off the court, Sinan Güler has applied his sports management education from Johan Cruyff Institute to establish ventures such as Guler Legacy and Boly, a social platform for basketball players, further solidifying his commitment to the sport.
