Keve Aluma

Keve Christian Aluma was born on December 31, 1998, in Berlin, Maryland. He began his basketball journey in high school, playing for Stephen Decatur High School where he stood at 6’7″ as a freshman. He developed into a three-year starter, leading his team to two regional titles and an appearance in the 3A state championship game. In his senior year, Aluma was named Bayside South Player of the Year. His performance during this period led to a commitment to play college basketball at Wofford, bypassing offers from other institutions such as Loyola (Maryland), UTEP, and UMBC.

Aluma’s college career began at Wofford, where he averaged 2.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game as a freshman. He transitioned into a starting role during his sophomore season, recording averages of 6.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. A notable performance included matching his season-high 14 points and nine rebounds in a win against The Citadel on January 3, 2019. Following his time at Wofford, Aluma transferred to Virginia Tech to rejoin his former coach, Mike Young. Due to transfer regulations, he sat out for one season.

At Virginia Tech, Aluma continued to develop as a key player. On November 28, 2020, he contributed 23 points and eight rebounds in an 81–73 overtime victory against third-ranked Villanova. He achieved further recognition on January 30, 2021, by posting 29 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in a 65–61 win over eighth-ranked Virginia. In his subsequent game, he recorded 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists despite a loss to Pittsburgh. As a redshirt junior, Aluma averaged 15.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, earning Second Team All-ACC honors. He declared for the 2021 NBA draft but ultimately returned for his senior season, where he was again named to the Second Team All-ACC. After his collegiate career, Aluma transitioned to professional basketball, playing for teams such as the Niigata Albirex in Japan, Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in South Korea, and currently, the Ryukyu Golden Kings in the B.League.
