Sindre Bjørnestad Skar

Sindre Bjørnestad Skar, a decorated Norwegian cross-country skier renowned for his consistent podium finishes and technical sprint abilities, made his FIS Cross-Country World Cup debut in February 2011 in Drammen, Norway, securing his first World Cup points. This quickly established him as a formidable talent. Skar earned two gold medals at the 2011 Junior World Championships in the 10 km freestyle and the 4 x 5 km relay. At the 2012 Junior World Championships, he secured a silver medal in the individual sprint and three bronze medals (20 km skiathlon, 10 km classical, 4 x 5 km relay).

This stellar season culminated in a third-place ranking in the Sprint discipline standings and a 13th-place finish in the sprint at the World Championships. He added a second-place finish in the 15 km Mass Start F Stage World Cup in Oberstdorf in 2018. Skar maintained his elite performance into 2019, securing his second individual World Cup victory in the 1.6 km Sprint F in Dresden. That same year, he earned additional podiums with a third-place finish in the 1.4 km Sprint F in Falun and another third-place finish in the 1.6 km Sprint F Stage World Cup in Quebec City.

The 2022 season saw him secure two third-place individual finishes in the 1.6 km Sprint F in Lahti and the 1.5 km Sprint F in Val Müstair. In 2023, he continued his strong performances with a second-place finish in the 20 km Pursuit F Stage World Cup in Oberstdorf, and a third-place finish in the 6 x 1.4 km Team Sprint F World Cup in Lahti. Skar continues to compete at the highest levels, representing Bærums Verk og Hauger IF and solidifying Norway’s formidable cross-country skiing legacy.
