The UK’s greatest athlete, Sir Mo Farah needs little introduction. He is a double-double Olympic Champion, a double-double World Champion, and a nine-time European Champion. He is the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history, having won the 2012 and 2016 gold medal in both the 5000m and 10,000m, and was the first athlete to win three long-distance doubles at successive World Championship and Olympic Games. He currently holds 10 gold medals to his name. He is also the most decorated athlete in British athletics history, with ten global titles, and was the first British athlete to win two gold medals at the same world championships. His five gold medals at the European Athletics Championships make him the most successful athlete in individual events in the championships’ history. He has won the European Athlete of the Year award and the British Athletics Writers Association British Athlete of the Year award more than any other athlete, three times and six times respectively. He was honoured with a CBE in 2013, and knighted in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to athletics.
Aside from athletics, the Somalian-born Farah is also involved in various philanthropic initiatives. He launched the Mo Farah Foundation in 2011, and won £250,000 for the foundation after participating in ITV’s game show, The Cube, becoming the only person to win the top prize on the show. He took part in the 2012 Olympic hunger summit at 10 Downing Street, and has continued to help raise funds for various causes and charities over the years. He has many endorsement deals, as well as advertising contracts and sponsorships, and recently appeared on the 20th edition of the reality TV show, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.
Farah regularly connects with his millions of followers and fans via Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, posting about his life both on and off the track. He also has his own YouTube channel, Mo Farah, as well as an official website, mofarah.com.
