soWayv, originally from Coney Island, Brooklyn, navigated a childhood marked by frequent moves across New York and New Jersey, including Staten Island, Vineland, and Long Island. During this period, music became a consistent element in his life. His career began in Vineland, New Jersey, where he learned to DJ using a laptop and eventually professional turntables, a process he largely taught himself through dedicated practice. Early on, he gained attention from figures like DJ Diamond Kuts, who recognized his talent and brought him onto Power99 in Philadelphia. This exposure further developed his profile in the DJ community.

His DJ career saw him performing at significant events, including backyard parties that garnered local news attention, and regular Thursday sets at Webster Hall with Funkmaster Flex. A turning point came when he became the official DJ for Dave East, touring with him for two years, including a spot on the Jeezy tour. This experience provided him with extensive insight into the music industry from an artist’s perspective. Concurrently, soWayv was developing his own music, eventually deciding to focus on a recording artist career to ensure his original work received independent recognition, adopting the name soWayv.

As a recording artist, soWayv describes his sound as a blend of hyperpop, electric, and punk, characterized by high-energy performances. He has released projects such as the EP “Built For This” and built a significant online presence, exceeding 1.2 million followers on Instagram. His music, influenced by artists like Playboi Carti and Travis Scott, incorporates elements of R&B and rap, demonstrating a broad artistic scope. He has collaborated with artists like $in Noodz, Flipp Dinero, and Rich The Kid, and has performed alongside names such as Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, and Pusha T.
