After beginning his career in 1991 at Radio City in Liverpool, Steve Bower went on to present sports bulletins and provide commentary for local teams including Everton F.C., Liverpool F.C., and Tranmere Rovers. In May 1996, he advanced to become the Head of Sport at Piccadilly Radio in Manchester, notably becoming the youngest sports editor in UK Independent Radio at the time.
