Steven Gerrard is a former professional footballer and manager, known for his distinguished playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool and the England national team, and his subsequent transition into management roles. After joining the Liverpool Academy in 1989, Steven Gerrard quickly rose through the ranks, signing his first professional contract with the club on November 5, 1997. He made his first-team debut on November 29, 1998, in a Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers, solidifying his place as a regular starter by 2000 and earning a call-up to the England national team. Gerrard played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s unique cup treble in 2001, scoring in the UEFA Cup final, alongside winning the FA Cup and Football League Cup.
He began coaching at the Liverpool Youth Academy in 2017, quickly advancing to the head coach role for the Liverpool Under-18 side. In 2018, he was appointed manager of Scottish Premiership club Rangers, where he achieved a historic unbeaten league title in the 202021 season, marking the club’s first in a decade. This remarkable achievement led to him being named both the SFWA Manager of the Year and PFA Scotland Manager of the Year in 2021. Further cementing his legacy, Gerrard was inducted into the prestigious Premier League Hall of Fame in 2021.
Following his tenure at Rangers, Gerrard took on the role of manager for Aston Villa in the Premier League in November 2021. He later moved to the Saudi Pro League, managing Al-Ettifaq from July 2023 to January 2025.
