Storm Reid was born on July 1, 2003, in Atlanta, Georgia. From a young age, she expressed an interest in acting, leading her and her family to relocate to Los Angeles when she was nine to support her career aspirations. Her professional acting career began in 2012 with the television film “A Cross to Bear.” In 2013, she appeared in the critically acclaimed historical drama “12 Years a Slave.” Reid continued to build her filmography with roles such as Tina in the science fiction drama “Sleight” in 2016 and Patricia in the comedy-drama “A Happening of Monumental Proportions” in 2017.
A significant milestone in Reid’s career was her starring role as Meg Murry in Ava DuVernay’s 2018 fantasy film “A Wrinkle in Time.” Although the film’s box office performance was mixed, Reid’s portrayal of Meg Murry received positive critical attention, with some critics highlighting her performance as a key asset to the film. This role earned her nominations for the Teen Choice Award for Choice Fantasy Movie Actress and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Role in a Motion Picture. Her career progression further included a supporting role as Lisa in the Netflix miniseries “When They See Us” and a main role as Gia Bennett in the HBO series “Euphoria,” both in 2019. In 2020, Reid starred in the commercially successful and critically acclaimed science fiction horror film “The Invisible Man,” playing Sydney Lanier. In the same year, she was nominated for the BET YoungStars Award.
Reid expanded her acting portfolio with roles in “The Suicide Squad” (2021) and “One Way” (2022). In 2023, she took on leading roles in the mystery/thriller film “Missing” and the supernatural horror film “The Nun II.” That same year, Reid garnered significant recognition for her role as Riley Abel in an episode of the HBO series “The Last of Us,” for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Away from acting, Reid and her mother, Robyn Simpson, launched A SEED & WINGS Productions in 2013, a multimedia production house focused on authentic and impactful storytelling. She also created the brand ArashiBlu, which includes the philanthropic initiative ArashiBlu 1720, dedicated to supporting young creators and restoring parks in underprivileged neighborhoods, with her first restoration project, Brownwood Park in Atlanta, launched in July 2023 with partners Coco Gauff and New Balance. Reid is a current student at USC, majoring in dramatic arts and minoring in African American studies.
