Su’a Cravens is a former NFL strong safety whose promising career was cut short by injury. After reluctantly retiring in 2020, he has been busy as a sociology student, musician and producer, pundit, and prospective coach. He returned to his old alma mater to complete his bachelor’s degree, has been working at the studios he built using his NFL salary, and working on Football broadcasts for USC. He is particularly popular on Twitter where has over 145,000 followers and is unafraid to stir the pot with his Footballing views.
Craven was born in Los Angeles in 1995. During his high school career, it became apparent that he was a very accomplished Football player. As well as plenty of first and second-team honours, he was named USA Today’s All-USA Defensive Player of the Year during his senior year. Ranked as the 12th best prospect of his year in the entire country, he was also invited to play in the 2013 US Army All-American Bowl and was approached by almost every Bowl Championship Series school in the country. He picked the Trojans of the University of Southern California and graduated early from high school to join them.
During his college career, he played 40 games and was named to the All-Pac 12 first team in 2014. In the 2016 NFL Draft, he was picked by the Washington Redskins, signed in a $4 million deal, and made his debut for them shortly afterwards. Despite a promising start, however, he eventually underwent treatment for post-concussion syndrome and was traded to the Denver Broncos two years later. Two years later, further injuries forced him to call time on his career.
