Svetlana Igorevna Mironova was born on February 22, 1994, in Moryakovskiy Zaton, Tomsk Oblast, Russia. She initially pursued cross-country skiing, transitioning to biathlon in 2011. Her early career highlights include success at the junior level, where she demonstrated notable potential. At the 2013 Junior World Championships in Obertilliach, Mironova secured a gold medal in the 3×6 km relay and a bronze medal in the 6 km sprint. The following year, at the U21 European Championships in Nové Město, she earned a silver medal in the 7.5 km sprint and became the champion in the 10 km pursuit.
Mironova made her Biathlon World Cup debut in the 2016-17 season in Pyeongchang on March 2, 2017, where she finished 64th in the sprint. Her performance improved, and in the 2017-18 season, she achieved a 9th-place finish in the Hochfilzen sprint and was recognized as the ‘Rookie of the Year’ by the International Biathlon Union. Significant career milestones include her first World Cup podium on December 13, 2019, with a third-place finish in the sprint race in Hochfilzen, and a second-place finish in the women’s relay at the same event. On January 10, 2021, Mironova was part of the Russian mixed relay team that won gold at the World Cup in Oberhof, marking a critical achievement for the team.
Her career culminated in a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in the 4 x 6 km relay, representing the Russian Olympic Committee. Throughout her career, Mironova has shown consistent progression, competing in multiple World Championships. Her best individual World Championship result was 5th in the individual race at the 2021 Pokljuka event. She primarily competes in sprint, pursuit, and relay events, continually contributing to the Russian biathlon team’s efforts.
