Syndee Winters is a Broadway star, actress and recording artist who recently wowed audiences with her portrayal of Nala in The Lion King on Broadway. She has released her debut album Lessons From a Lady, and has lent her vocal talents to tracks by Snoop Dogg, Grandmaster Flash and Big Daddy Kane. She has starred in numerous roles on stage, including Mary Wells in Motown: The Musical, the Leading Player in Pippin on Broadway and in Hamilton as one of the Schuyler Sisters, and also entertained television audiences in Jesus Christ Superstar Live!
Born in New York, Winters was raised in Miami and describes herself as a Chinese Jamaican Cuban American. The multi-talented artist launched her illustrious Broadway career after gaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre at Five Towns College, and her career has also seen her cross over multiple genres including R&B, pop, hip-hop and reggae. She first auditioned for The Lion King in 2008 and didn’t receive a call back, but two years later Disney got in touch and the talented performer has been with the production and the Disney family ever since.
Already a triple threat as an actor, singer and dancer, Winters is also a talented writer who has written several of her own tracks, and her latest project LENA:A Moment with a Lady is a fascinating one-woman musical play celebrating the life of American legend Lena Horne. She is the Founder of her own performing arts school, ROAR, where she is a vocal and acting coach and has travelled the globe in her spare time teaching inspirational workshops to young artists.
