American pseudo streetstyle vlogger Tabasko Sweet invaded the online world with his brilliant Cheap Thrills series. Sweet became one of digital studio Super Deluxe’s best loved personalities after presenting the weekly comedic series where he taught viewers how to recreate designer fashion at a fraction of the cost, with famous episodes including his video where he shows how to make Gucci flip flops using green and red electrical tape. Sweet has amassed over 114 million views across Facebook and YouTube since the launch of the series.
Born Nate Contreras, the young star was asked to audition for Tabasko Sweet by his friend and Super Deluxe filmmaker Michaela McEttrick (also the brains behind successful beauty tutorial satirical series Turnt Beauty). It has also given him the chance to diversify in various other business ventures, such as Super Deluxe’s most successful line of limited edition merch, including a fan-art inspired candle and body pillow which both sold out within weeks of being launched. Sweet is also the creator of the Nateemoji app.
The young star has even ventured into the music scene, appearing alongside fellow YouTuber FrankJavCee on the track ‘Finessin’. Sweet has also shown how he differs from many other members of the sneaker head and fashion communities by challenging notions about sexism and highlighting female designers including Kylie Jenner, encouraging members of the streetwear world to respect women.
