Josh “Taiwan” Williams is a popular professional hip-hop dancer who has appeared in major television shows, music videos, and live shows. He is also a professional dance teacher and mentor, both in person at the Millenium Dance Complex in California and through his YouTube channel where he has over 225,000 subscribers. He is best known to mainstream audiences as a finalist on America’s Got Talent, one of the featured dancers in music videos such as Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’, and Jason Derulo’s ‘Trumpets’, shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, and television adverts for major brands such as Desperados and Time Warner Cable.
Although born in California, Williams was raised elsewhere but returned to the Sunshine State in his late teens to pursue a career as a professional dancer. After becoming a teacher, he got his first break when he entered the eight season of So You Think You Can Dance and came within touching distance of a top 20 finish. Unbowed, he continued to work hard and enter every competition going — his dance crew Goodfellas entered America’s Best Dance Crew and made it to the callbacks. They also performed well at other dance competitions across the States, including winning Collaboration. He has also won various individual choreography awards.
Williams eventually moved to Los Angeles to further his career and soon signed with the MSA Talent Agency. Within a year, he was dancing behind major stars such as Pharrell, Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, Tank, and more. His YouTube channel also began to take off and his dances to contemporary hits get thousands of views and reactions within days of being uploaded.
