Tarren Otte is an Australian former synchronised swimmer, known for representing her country in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. Known to fans and the media as ‘Tazza’, Otte has competed internationally at both the solo and team events. Today she is a synchronised swimming coach and physical education teacher, and is the co-founder of the Melbourne-based Golden Fish Synchronised Swimming Club.
Otte began synchronised swimming at the age of nine after she was introduced to the sport by a primary school teacher, and her talent for the sport was soon clear. She joined the Victoria State team at the age of 12 in 1996, later played for her college team at the Victorian Institute of Sport, and would compete across Australia for several years.
With the national team, she was part of the first Australian contingent to make it into the finals of the free combination routine at the FINA World Championships, and later competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Beyond team swimming, Otte represented Australia in the solo event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Here she came joint-third in the free routine, and finished fourth overall, only narrowly missing out on a podium place. Although she retired from the sport that year, she returned to the Australian national team one last time to represent her country again at the 2012 Games in London.
