Taylor Elyse Tomlinson, born on November 4, 1993, in California, is an American stand-up comedian. Raised in a devout Christian family in Temecula, California, she began performing comedy at the age of 16, after her father enrolled them both in a stand-up class. Her early performances took place in diverse venues such as church basements, school events, and coffee shops. Tomlinson briefly attended California Polytechnic State University and Palomar College before pursuing her comedy career full-time, dropping out of California State University San Marcos.
Tomlinson gained significant recognition in 2015 as a top-ten finalist on NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’ (Season 9). Her career progressed with appearances on ‘The Tonight Show’ and ‘Conan’, in addition to various Comedy Central productions. In 2018, she was named one of ‘Variety”s “Top 10 Comics to Watch” at the Just for Laughs Festival. Her 2018 Netflix debut on ‘The Comedy Lineup’ further elevated her profile, leading to her first Netflix stand-up special, ‘Quarter-Life Crisis’, released in March 2020. This was followed by ‘Look At You’ in March 2022, where she openly discussed her bipolar disorder diagnosis, a topic that frequently features in her material. Her third Netflix special, ‘Have It All’, premiered in February 2024, where she publicly came out as bisexual, further integrating personal experiences into her comedy.
Demonstrating her appeal and touring prowess, Tomlinson was the only woman on Forbes’ list of the highest-grossing comedy tours of 2023, performing 132 shows and generating over $17.5 million in sales. In November 2023, she was announced as the host of CBS’s ‘After Midnight’, a revival of the ‘@midnight’ panel show, which premiered in January 2024. She took on this role with a specific arrangement to ensure she could continue her stand-up performances on weekends, underscoring her commitment to live comedy. While initially renewed, Tomlinson departed ‘After Midnight’ to refocus on her stand-up career, with the show concluding in June 2025.
