The Katinas are one of biggest names in contemporary Christian music. The family of five brothers have touched the hearts of thousands through their music ever since they first played in their father’s church band. They have since travelled the world bringing their mission of hope and love to everyone they meet and perform for.
The band were born about 1,000 miles south of Hawaii in American Samoa and moved to Washington State in the late 1980s.They began to sing together as a group when they were still children, and after moving to Nashville began to perform at churches and fairs. As their popularity grew they began to perform nationwide dates, opening up shows for the likes of Amy Grant, DC Talk and R.Kelly. After several independent releases (Katina Boyz, We Believe) the band signed a deal with Gotee Records in 1997 and released their first EP, The Katinas later the same year. Their first full-length album was released in 1999, and since then the band has continued to build an impressive discography including Destiny and their deluxe DVD/CD Live at the Rock San Diego.
In 2009 the Katinas put on their “Hope for Samoa” benefit concert following the devastation and destruction of the Samoa earthquake and tsunami in 2009. The band continues to tour regularly bringing their messages of love and hope to audiences across the globe.
