Thomas John

Thomas John Flanagan, known professionally as Thomas John, is an American psychic medium who began his professional career in his mid-20s, primarily working in New York City and Los Angeles. He gained initial recognition for his private readings and speaking events, both in-person and online. His public profile grew significantly with his participation in television. In 2018, he starred in the reality TV show “Seatbelt Psychic,” where he surprised rideshare passengers by delivering messages from their deceased relatives. This was followed by “The Thomas John Experience,” which premiered on CBS All Access in June 2020. The show featured him traveling across the United States, conducting readings in various cities including New Orleans, Chicago, Boston, and Los Angeles.

John expanded his career to include live stage performances. In January 2020, he launched a live show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, which received positive reviews from “Las Vegas Magazine” before being put on hiatus in March 2020. In addition to his on-screen and live work, a musical titled “Dead Serious,” based on his life and experiences, co-written by John and Michelle Wendt, premiered off-Broadway in July 2019, running through September of the same year at the Theatre Center in New York City. His work has also included a book, “Never Argue with a Dead Person: True and Unbelievable Stories from the Other Side,” published in 2015.

Throughout his career, John has faced criticism, notably a “hot reading” accusation in 2017 following a sting operation by Susan Gerbic and mentalist Mark Edward, where information given during a reading reportedly matched falsified online profiles. In 2009, prior to his significant public recognition as a medium, John was also involved in legal issues, pleading guilty to theft and computer fraud for a Craigslist scam. Despite these challenges, John has continued to maintain a public presence as a medium, engaging with audiences through various platforms and events.
