German skeleton racer Tina Hermann is a three time World Champion, and has been competing internationally for more than 10 years.
After taking up competitive skeleton racing when she was still a teenager, Hermann quickly progressed up the ranks of the sport, competing in the Junior World Championships in the 2009-2010 season where she took home the gold medal. She then started regularly qualifying for Europe Cup events, as well as making her Intercontinental Cup debut during the 2012-2013 season. She won gold at the Intercontinental event in Altenberg, and the following season made it into the World Cup for the first time. Her World Cup performances have earned her a reputation as a fierce competitor, having never finished lower than 4th place in any season since. In 2015-2016 she won an incredible five gold medals, and came overall 1st place. Hermann’s career has continued to go from strength to strength, with gold medals at the 2016 World Championships and the European Championships, followed by two World Championships silvers in 2017. Her string of successes continued with yet more gold medal winning performances at the 2019 competition and the 2020 tournament, once again cementing her status as one of the all time skeleton greats.
With a recent triple gold medal winning World Cup season under her belt, Hermann’s career shows no signs of slowing down. Alongside her inspirational sportsmanship, she is a police officer in her home country of Germany, serving as an example to local children and helping others.
