Tiril Udnes Weng is an international cross-country skier based in Norway who has podiumed with both her twin sister, Lotta Udnes Weng, and her third cousin, Heidi Weng. Norwegian news outlet, Aftenposten, named Weng and her twin “some of the most promising talents in Norwegian cross-country skiing,” while cross-country coach, Åge Skinstad, said “these are girls we will see a lot of in the future.” Currently, she competes on the club Nes Ski while also taking on the World Cup and the World Championships.
Weng showed her early promise back when she competed in the Junior World Championships three years in a row. She left decorated with two bronze medals, one silver, and one gold medal, mostly from her impressive performance in the relay category. After that, she participated in the Under Twenty-Three years old Junior World Championships for the next three years, where she earned another bronze, two more silvers, and another gold to add to her collection, all from individual races opposed to team.
Recently, Weng moved up to the big leagues and placed second in the 2019 U23 World Cup for the season standings, proving herself on the international stage. In addition, she’s also podiumed twice with her team: in the 2018/2019 season, she brought home silver for the 6 x 1.4 kilometer sprint, and in the 2019/2020 season, she graduated to gold during the 4 x 5 kilometer relay in Finland alongside her third cousin, Heidi Weng, as well as fellow MN2S talent, Ingvild Østberg, and other teammate, Therese Johaug.
