Tone Wieten is a Dutch Olympic and World Champion rower, renowned for his significant contributions to the Men’s Quadruple Sculls and Men’s Eight. After making his international debut with the Dutch U23 men’s eight at the World Rowing U23 Championships in 2013, Tone Wieten quickly established himself as a formidable force in elite rowing. The following year, 2014, marked his debut in the senior Dutch men’s eight, where he secured a silver medal at World Rowing Cup I in Sydney, Australia. He continued to compete consistently at European Championships and World Rowing Cups, achieving a significant milestone with a bronze medal in the men’s eight at the 2015 World Rowing Championships.
His accomplishments continued into 2023, where he earned a silver medal at the European Rowing Championships in Bled, Slovenia, in the quadruple sculls. He then secured another World Championship gold medal in the quadruple sculls at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Wieten’s consistent excellence was recognized with the prestigious 2024 World Rowing Mens Crew of the Year award, alongside his teammates Lennart Van Lierop, Finn Florijn, and Koen Metsemakers. Most recently, Wieten achieved another gold medal in the Men’s Quadruple Sculls at the 2024 Olympic Games Regatta in Paris, solidifying his status as one of the most decorated athletes in international rowing.
