Valerio Grond was born on October 26, 2000, in Davos, Switzerland. He began his professional skiing career by joining SC Davos. His early career milestones include participating in the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships, where he earned a bronze medal in the individual sprint in Goms in 2018 and a silver medal in Oberwiesenthal in 2020. These formative years set the stage for his progression in cross-country skiing, demonstrating consistent development in sprint disciplines.
Grond continued to advance in his sport, making his World Cup debut and steadily improving his rankings. He competed in the sprint event at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where he finished 18th. The same year, he won a gold medal in the individual sprint at the U23 World Championships in Lygna. His performance in the World Cup has seen him achieve an individual podium finish, securing third place in a 1.5 km Sprint F event in Lahti, Finland, during the 2023–24 season. He has also contributed to team podiums, including a second-place finish in a 6 x 1.2 km Team Sprint F in Davos in 2024–25 and a third-place finish in Livigno in 2022-23.
