Valorie Darling is a true breath of fresh air, and a genuine shining light of hope in this world. Her field may be photography, but the mark she leaves on the planet everyday is so much more than that. With a deep passion for social activism, giving back to others has always been at the very top of Valorie’s priorities. It was this work that actually first led her to pick up a camera and find her calling.
It was in South Central LA, that more than a decade ago now, she co-founded an arts program for foster children. SoCal HeArts provided the children with all the creative activities that had been cut from public schools, and most importantly a safe space. Valorie decided to get a camera to document the children and their progress. It was then that she first realised her true passion for capturing moments of meaning and beauty that will live on eternally. Valorie and her beloved team have now shot over 150 weddings. Their work has been featured in an endless list of renowned publications, the likes of People Magazine, US Weekly, Martha Stewart and Brides. Valorie absolutely revels in shooting weddings and the many roles she gets to play during the special day, from choreographer and art director, to stylist and friend.
As well as SoCal HeArts, Valorie also now lends her prowess behind the camera to her partner Brian’s company, Kin. The sustainable travel company invests in ecosystems and communities in third world countries. Always giving back to those around her, Valorie places a huge importance in educating and supporting the next generation of photographers. Through her courses, workshops and mentorships, Valorie strives to bring forth the full creative and envisioned life potential of all aspiring photographers in the most efficient, healthy and inspired way possible.
