Violett Beane was born on May 18, 1996, in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA. She moved to Austin, Texas, at the age of ten, where she was raised and developed an interest in performing. Throughout middle and high school, she studied drama and in her senior year, she secured an agent in Austin, focusing on acting professionally. She completed her schooling at McCallum High School in Austin. Beane was raised Quaker, attending meetings weekly for most of her childhood.
Beane’s acting career commenced in 2015 with a recurring role in season 2 of the HBO series, “The Leftovers,” portraying Taylor Truitt. This was followed by her casting in The CW’s “The Flash” as Jesse Wells, also known as Jesse Quick, daughter of Harrison Wells. She appeared in 21 episodes of “The Flash” between 2015 and 2018. During this period, she also had a recurring role in the Fox medical drama “The Resident” as Lily Kendall in 2018, appearing in 8 episodes. Her film work includes the independent horror film “Flay,” “Slash,” and the documentary “Tower” (2016), where she played Claire Wilson, a survivor of the 1966 University of Texas at Austin shooting.
From 2018 to 2020, Beane starred as Cara Bloom in the CBS television series “God Friended Me,” a main role spanning 42 episodes. She also took on the main role of Markie Cameron in the Blumhouse Productions horror film “Truth or Dare,” released in 2018. More recently, Beane has appeared as Imogene Scott in the Hulu mystery series “Death and Other Details” (2024), where she holds a lead role over 10 episodes. In 2025, she is scheduled to appear as Evan Shepherd in the Prime Video crime series “Countdown” across 13 episodes, and Jen in the film “Drop.” She is also cast as Sunny Stuber in three episodes of “The Morning Show” (2025) and Jamie in the film “Renner” (2025). Additionally, Beane has taken on roles behind the camera, directing and producing the short film “Mouthpiece” and the music video “Jasmin Savoy: Orange Wine,” both in 2022. She is vegan and has publicly supported this lifestyle through campaigns such as one with PETA.
