Award-winning American actor William DeMeo is most famous for his roles in The Sopranos, Analyze That and First Kill. He is also well known for appearing in the film Gotti as Sammy Gravano in 2018, and is an accomplished director, producer and writer with his own film company, West Street Productions. In 2000 he won the Best Actor Award at the New York Independent International Film Festival for his performance in Wannabees.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, DeMeo made his movie debut in A Bronx Tale, ending up with several lines after he was only hired as an extra. In 2000 he produced, wrote, co-directed and played the lead role in the movie Wannabees. The film went on to win numerous awards at the New York Independent International Film Festival, including Best Actor Award for DeMeo, Best Supporting Actor and Best Director. In 2005 he produced and co-wrote another award-winning movie, Searching for Bobby D, and DeMeo also starred in the film alongside Sandra Bernhard and Carmen Electra.
As well as a glittering film career as both an actor and producer, DeMeo is famous for his numerous television roles, including his portrayal of Carlo Gambino in Boss of Bosses, Al Pacino in Analyze That, Hackers, and a recurring role in the last three series of iconic drama The Sopranos playing Jason Molinaro. In recent years DeMeo has written, developed and directed several episodes of TV drama Gravesend, and he also stars in the lead role of Benny Zerletta in the mob series set in the New York neighbourhoods where he grew up.
