About

Luke George Evans, born on April 15, 1979, in Pontypool, Wales, and raised in Aberbargoed, embarked on his journey in the performing arts at a young age. He left school at 16, and at 17, moved to Cardiff where he received vocal training. In 1997, he earned a scholarship to the London Studio Centre, graduating in 2000. Commencing his career on the London stage, Evans performed in numerous West End productions from 2000 to 2008, including notable roles in “Rent,” “Miss Saigon,” and “Piaf.” His performance as Vincent in the play “Small Change” at the Donmar Warehouse in 2008 garnered significant attention, leading to a nomination for the Evening Standard Award for Outstanding Newcomer and attracting the interest of film casting directors.

Evans made his film debut at the age of 30, portraying Apollo in the 2010 remake of “Clash of the Titans.” This breakthrough was followed by roles in “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,” “Robin Hood,” and Stephen Frears’ “Tamara Drewe,” all in 2010. The following years saw his career accelerate with appearances in action and thriller films such as “Blitz” (2011), where he starred alongside Jason Statham, “The Three Musketeers” (2011) as Aramis, and Tarsem Singh’s “Immortals” (2011) playing Zeus. In 2012, he took on the role of Detective Emmett Fields in “The Raven” and joined Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” film series as Bard the Bowman, a role he reprised in subsequent installments. A significant turning point came in 2013 when he portrayed the antagonist Owen Shaw in “Fast & Furious 6,” a role he later revisited in the franchise. In 2014, Evans starred as Vlad III Țepeș/Dracula in “Dracula Untold,” further cementing his status as a leading actor in action-oriented roles. His filmography continued to expand with projects like “High-Rise” (2015) and “The Girl on the Train” (2016).

In 2017, Evans gained wide recognition for his portrayal of Gaston in Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast,” and later that year, he played psychologist William Moulton Marston in “Professor Marston and the Wonder Women.” His television career includes a main role as John Moore in the TNT drama “The Alienist” (2018–2020), and a critically acclaimed performance as Steve Wilkins in the miniseries “The Pembrokeshire Murders” (2020). He also featured in the Hulu drama series “Nine Perfect Strangers” (2021) and the military series “Echo 3” (2022). Beyond acting, Evans ventured into music, releasing his debut album “At Last” in 2019 and “A Song for You” in 2022. He was recognized as Man of the Year at the 2020 Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards and launched his fashion brand, BDXY, with Fran Tomas and Christopher Brown.
