About

Wolf Blitzer achieved significant reportorial recognition with his groundbreaking coverage of the Jonathan Pollard espionage case, becoming the first journalist to interview Pollard, which led to his 1989 book ‘Territory of Lies.’ Prior to this, Blitzer initiated his journalism career in the early 1970s at the Reuters news agency’s Tel Aviv bureau. In 1973, he transitioned to become a Washington correspondent for The Jerusalem Post, a role he held until 1990, covering American politics and developments in the Middle East. During this period, he also wrote for Hebrew-language newspapers and served as editor of the Near East Report for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in the mid-1970s, focusing on U.S. foreign policy related to the Middle East.

His 1985 book, ‘Between Washington and Jerusalem: A Reporter’s Notebook,’ further detailed his career and U.S.-Israel relations. In May 1990, Blitzer made a pivotal career move, joining CNN as a military affairs reporter where he notably provided extensive coverage of the first Gulf War. His expertise led him to become CNN’s White House correspondent in 1992, a prestigious role he maintained until 1999. During his tenure, he earned an Emmy Award in 1995 for his impactful coverage of the Oklahoma City bombing.

More recently, in 2022, Blitzer hosted ‘The Newscast with Wolf Blitzer’ on CNN+, continuing to adapt his acclaimed journalistic style to evolving media platforms. With a career spanning decades of pivotal global events and U.S. political shifts, Blitzer remains a leading anchor, delivering insightful analysis and breaking news to millions of viewers daily on ‘The Situation Room’, upholding his legacy as a highly respected journalist.
