Tokyo 2021 Olympic hopeful Zhu Xueying is a trampoline gymnast who won gold at the 2020 FIG World Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics in Baku, Azerbaijan. Xueying is a former Youth Olympic champion and won two gold medals at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2017. She also won an individual silver medal at the 2018 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Saint Petersburg, Russia. After her impressive performance at the 2020 World Cup, she has now set her sights on the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in 2021. The General Administration of Sport of China named her an Elite Athlete of International Class in 2018.
Born in Beijing, China, Xueying started gymnastics as a small child before taking up trampolining when she was 10 years old after a school sports coach encouraged her to try the sport. After showing early promise as a talented trampoline gymnast, she was selected for the Chinese National Team in 2013. In 2014 she rose to prominence when she represented her country at the Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China and took home the gold medal.
Three years later she made an impact at senior level when she clinched the silver medal at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in 2018, also winning the gold medal in the All-around Team event. Since then Xueying has gone from strength to strength , and the promising young star will be one to watch in Tokyo in 2021.
