Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Bhupendra Kumar Jaiswal was born on December 28, 2001, in Suriyawan, Uttar Pradesh, India. At the age of ten, Jaiswal moved to Mumbai to pursue cricket training. His early life involved significant challenges, including working at a dairy shop and later living in a tent with groundsmen. During this time, he also sold panipuri to support himself. His cricketing talent was identified in December 2013 by Jwala Singh, who provided him with accommodation and became his legal guardian.

Jaiswal gained prominence in 2015 by scoring 319 not out and taking 13/99 in a Giles Shield match, an all-round record in Indian schools cricket. He was subsequently selected for the Mumbai under-16 squad and then the India national under-19 cricket team. He was the Player of the Tournament and leading run-scorer in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Domestically, he made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy and his List A debut in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he became the youngest double centurion in List A cricket history. In the Indian Premier League, he was acquired by Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 auction. He recorded the fastest IPL half-century in just 13 balls in 2023 and finished the season as Rajasthan’s leading run-scorer.

Jaiswal made his international debut for India in July 2023, scoring a century in his first Test innings against the West Indies. He later earned the Player of the Match award. In 2024, during a Test series against England, he scored two consecutive double centuries, becoming the third Indian batter to achieve this feat. He is also the third youngest cricketer in Test history to have two double centuries. He equaled the world record for the most sixes (12) in a Test innings and became only the second Indian to score 700 runs in a Test series after Sunil Gavaskar. Jaiswal was part of the Indian squad that won the gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games and the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.
