Zach Svajda

Zachary Svajda was born on November 29, 2002, in La Jolla, California. He began playing tennis at the age of two and was initially coached by Matt Hanlin. Svajda earned his first ATP Tour ranking point at 15 years old in 2018, defeating top-seeded João Lucas Reis da Silva at the Claremont Club Pro Classic. His early entrance into professional tennis marked him as a promising junior talent.

In 2019, at 16, Svajda won the USTA Boys 18s National Championship, securing a wildcard entry into the US Open main draw, making him the youngest male player to compete since 2005. Despite a first-round loss in a five-set match due to cramps against Paolo Lorenzi, his performance garnered attention for his solid groundstrokes and net play. He further established his presence in 2021 by defending his Boys 18s National Championship title, which led to another US Open wildcard. Ranked world No. 716, he achieved his first Major win by defeating world No. 81 Marco Cecchinato, before a close four-set match against Jannik Sinner in the second round.

Svajda’s career continued to advance, highlighted by his maiden Challenger title win at the 2022 Tiburon Challenger, where he defeated Ben Shelton and consequently rose to a career-high ranking of No. 255. The year 2023 was particularly significant, as he won three Challenger titles, including becoming the first player to win the Tiburon Challenger twice, and secured his first ATP 500 main-draw win at the Citi Open by defeating Max Purcell. In 2024, he continued to achieve notable results, such as reaching a career-high singles ranking of No. 102 on August 26, 2024, and defeating third seed Francisco Cerúndolo at the Winston-Salem Open. In July 2025, Svajda secured his first grass-court title at the Challenger 125 Hall of Fame Open, defeating Adrian Mannarino in the final, which moved him back into the top 200 of the singles rankings.
