Zadezhda Sergeeva

Nadezhda Viktorovna Sergeeva, born on June 13, 1987, in Kemerovo, Russian SSR, Soviet Union, embarked on her athletic career in track and field before transitioning to bobsleigh. Her early athletic achievements include a tenth-place finish at the 2004 World Junior Championships and a bronze medal at the 2009 European Athletics U23 Championships in heptathlon. In her final year of track and field competition, 2010, she placed 21st at the Hypo-Meeting. These initial experiences provided a foundation for her subsequent bobsleigh career, where she would compete at the highest international levels.

Sergeeva made her bobsleigh World Cup debut in February 2011, achieving her best World Cup finish of tenth in Cesena during the 2010-11 season. She represented Russia at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she and partner Nadezhda Paleeva finished 16th in the two-woman event. Her career included a ninth-place finish at the 2013 FIBT World Championships in the team competition. A significant milestone in her bobsleigh career was winning Russia’s first-ever medal in the women’s event at the 2017 FIBT European Championships in Winterberg, earning a silver medal in the two-woman event alongside Anastasia Kocherzhova. She also secured a gold medal in two-woman at the 2020 Sigulda European Championships and a bronze medal in monobob at the 2022 St. Moritz European Championships.

Sergeeva continued her Olympic journey, participating in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. At the Beijing 2022 Games, she achieved a 9th-place finish in the 2-woman bobsleigh event and a 10th-place finish in Women’s Monobob while representing the ROC team. Her career has included notable challenges, such as doping allegations and temporary suspensions in 2016 and 2018. Despite these issues, Sergeeva has maintained a presence in international bobsleigh competition, demonstrating resilience throughout her career.
