Zsuzsanna Eva Ward – better known by her stage name ZZ Ward – is an American singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Her debut single ‘Put The Gun Down’ smashed into the AAA radio chart top 10 in February 2013 and stayed there for 10 weeks, and the track also racked up 7.4 million-plus Spotify streams and broke into the Billboard Alternative Chart top 40. Ward has been praised by the likes of Guitar World, Rolling Stone, USA Today, has toured with Eric Clapton and Gary Clark, Jr. and has lit up stages at festivals including Made In America, Firefly and Coachella. She has also illuminated the screen with performances on The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, Conan and Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!.
Ward hails from Roseburg, Oregon, a small town where she split her time listening to brother’s hip-hop collection and her father’s blues records, a mix that would ultimately help define her own unique sound and style. After singing in her father’s blues band when she was 12 she joined several hip-hop and R&B acts before relocating to L.A. She began work on her debut album after signing a deal with Hollywood Records and Boardwalk Entertainment Group, who were impressed with her unique blend of neo-soul, blues, hip-hop and R&B.
Critically-acclaimed debut album Til the Casket Drops dropped in 2012 followed by 2017’s The Storm. The start of the new decade saw Ward drop new tracks including ‘Break Her Heart’, an addictive break-up anthem, and she continues to blend hip-hop bounce and blues grit in a way that sets her apart from her peers.
