New York DJ Roger Sanchez has chosen the winner of this year’s Bedroom DJ Award.
Roger Sanchez is gearing up to headline this year’s MN2S ADE party, but he still had time to help judge the DJ Awards’ seventh annual Bedroom DJ competition. The DJ Awards jury listened to 562 Mixcloud sessions, 17,000 minutes of music, and they struggled to come to a decision.
Their solution? They called Roger Sanchez, who they describe as their mentor. Roger had this to say: “I made my selections based on technical precision, selection, flow and creative transitions and layering.”
The winner was Spanish DJ Abel Ortiz, who the DJ Awards describes as a master of Tribal percussion, Ethnic Sounds, House and Tech House. Born in 1987, Ortiz started mixing when he was just 15. According to the DJ Awards, “His sets are mixed with three decks, percussion loops and a lot of passion, creating a great energy with the public.”
