BBC Radio 1Xtra has announced four new DJs, among them Melody Kane and Kenny Allstar.
1Xtra has always been a great place to find exciting new DJ talent. It’s continuing that tradition by signing four new DJs to the station as part of the Residency schedule which kicks off on Wednesday 29th November.
Intended to shine a light on the next generation of DJs, Residency will see Melody Kane, Kenny Allstar, Jeremiah Asiamah and Snoochie Shy appearing in rotation over the next six months.
Melody Kane is no stranger to 1Xtra, contributing mixes to the show in recent years for MistaJam and Charlie Sloth. In a statement she said: “As a long term 1Xtra listener, I feel so blessed to be joining the family. In my show I’ll be sharing with you my passion for all that’s good in music, from Dancehall to Hip Hop and everything in between from both the UK and around the world, representing the best of today’s and tomorrow’s talent.”
Kenny Allstar has made a name for himself with his ‘Mad About Bars’ series, showcasing up-and-coming rappers from the UK scene. “Being on 1Xtra has always been a childhood dream of mine,” he says, “and I’m truly gassed to finally get the opportunity to broadcast to the nation and begin what I’m sure will be a sick journey with 1Xtra.”
