Canadian rap superstar Drake freestyles on Charlie Sloth’s legendary BBC 1Xtra segment Fire in the Booth.

Charlie Sloth is no stranger to working with major rap talent. The Fire in the Booth segment of his 1Xtra show has seen the likes of Akala, Shaodow, Scrufizzer, and recently members of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan drop blazing freestyles over Sloth’s choice of beats and trademark sound effects. The segment has even spawned an international hit in the shape of Big Shaq’s ‘Man’s Not Hot’, which was initially performed by comedian Michael Dapaah in an extended Fire in the Booth skit.

Now, Charlie Sloth has been joined by his biggest ever rapper — by some measures the most popular artist of all time — Aubrey “Drake” Graham. Drake’s appearance on the normally grime-centric show is not unfounded. The rapper has been closely associated with the UK genre over the years, touring with Sneakbo, expressing love for Boy Better Know and collaborating with Giggs among others.

In typical Fire in the Booth fashion, Drake covered a wide range of topics in his freestyle, including his own wealth and record-breaking success.

For his part, Charlie with clearly thrilled to have Drake in the studio, dropping sound effects left right and centre. Fans have taken to the video, too: it’s currently trending at number one on YouTube, and nearing 2 million views. Time will only tell if Drake’s appearance will herald even more rappers crossing the pond to take part.
